Here is the source of my first encounter with the idea of the Western Canon. It was not something I was taught in public schooling. It’s a small wonder I went to class at all since there was little to learn!

This is a Wiki article discussing Classical education. It seems incredible to think that moderns are so advanced when our schools are glorified baby-sitting services as compared to the real education that students would get from the Middle Ages onward.
